Phoenix, Arizona is a city of named for a sacred mythical firebird in Persian mythology. Phoenix was incorporated in 1881 and now ranks as one of the fastest growing cities in the nation. Phoenix boasts vibrant desert colors, cultural arts and recreational activities matched by few cities. Phoenix has recently become home to a cultural youth movement called Crash.
Crash is a group of young adults dedicated to making Phoenix a better place to live by living a life with purpose. The students who make up the group come from all walks of life. A group of rhinoceros' is called a crash and this is where the group gets its name from. A rhino can weigh from 2'000lb to 4'000lb and run up to 30 miles a hour so a crash of rhinoceros' have a powerful impact on what they encounter.
The Phoenix organization of Crash is the flagship group of what is to become a global movement to hold young adults accountable for their lives and the surrounding community they live in. There are no fees or initiation involved only a willingness to lead by example. The group was founded and is funded by Buck and Heather Hoskin who are founders of a Christian ministry called CrossWord Christian Fellowship Ministries.
CrossWord Ministries is headquartered in Glendale, AZ. but is far reaching from the east coast to the west coast of America. They are also involved in helping underprivileged people in the Philippines and Australia. The group Crash will be involved in the organization of the Arizona Youth Camp "Magnify" held in Prescott, AZ. July 11-17.
Crash meets in Glendale from 6:30-8:00 every Wednesday. There is on site adult supervision and leadership. Laura Delker Hewett provides the female leadership programs and guidance while Buck Hoskin provides the male leadership programs. All is not so serious though there is food and games. Crash also provides the students a chance to escape the peer pressure many experience in their daily lives.
